Services and assistive support to help you live as independently as possible, and to work toward employment later if it becomes feasible.
The Independent Living track is for veterans whose service-connected disabilities currently make returning to work not feasible. Rather than a job goal, the immediate aim is helping you function as independently as possible in your daily life, through services and assistive support. If employment becomes feasible later, VR&E can move you toward a work-focused track at that point.
Getting on it: Your VRC evaluates whether an employment goal is currently feasible; if not, an Independent Living plan is developed to improve your day-to-day independence, with a path back to employment services if your situation changes.
