VA Combined Rating Calculator

Calculate your combined VA disability rating using the official “VA math” formula. Understand how multiple conditions combine and estimate your monthly compensation.

How VA Math Works

The VA doesn't simply add your disability percentages together. Instead, each condition is applied to the remaining “healthy” percentage of your body. For example, a 50% rating and a 30% rating don't equal 80% — they combine to 65%.

Example: 50% + 30%
Step 1: Start at 100% healthy
Step 2: Apply 50% → 50% remaining
Step 3: Apply 30% of 50% → 15%
Step 4: Total = 50% + 15% = 65% → rounds to 70%
