There is a separate, higher added amount for each child aged 18-23 who is in a qualifying school program, and added amounts for a spouse receiving Aid & Attendance and for each dependent parent. VA pays disability compensation in arrears: the deposit you receive at the start of a month covers the previous month. Payment is issued on the first business day of the month. If the first falls on a weekend or federal holiday, VA sends it on the last business day before, which sometimes lands in the prior calendar month.

A 70% rating pays a single veteran with no dependents $1,808.45 per month in 2026. It goes up with a spouse, each child, and dependent parents. These amounts took effect December 1, 2025 with the 2.8% COLA.
VA pays in arrears on the first business day of the month for the previous month’s benefits. Your March benefits, for example, deposit on the first business day of April.
VA issues the payment on the last business day before the first. That can move the deposit into the prior calendar month. July 2026 benefits, for instance, deposit on Friday, July 31, 2026 because August 1 is a Saturday.
