How We Make Money

The short version

Military Transition Toolkit is, and always will be, 100% free for you. There is no subscription, no paywall, and no premium tier. You never pay us a cent.

Running the site costs money, though — hosting, data, and the time to keep hundreds of guides and calculators accurate. We cover that in two ways that don't charge you: display advertising and affiliate links. Third parties pay; you don't.

1. Display advertising

We show ads on some pages (mainly blog articles). Those ads are served by an independent advertising network, which pays us a share of the revenue based on how many people see the pages. We keep ad density deliberately light and keep the calculators and tools as clean as we can.

We do not choose the individual advertisers — the ad network fills the space programmatically.
Ads never gate content. Everything on the site stays free and fully accessible.
Advertising has no influence on what we write, how we rate anything, or what our calculators return.

2. Affiliate links

Some links to third-party products or services (for example, education, resume, or financial tools) are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. We only include a product when we'd point a fellow veteran to it regardless of any commission, and we say so where it applies (FTC 16 CFR Part 255).

Our independence promise

Our whole reason for existing is to give you accurate, unbiased information for high-stakes decisions about your benefits and career. Money never changes that:

We do not sell or broker your personal data.
We do not take money to inflate a rating, review, or recommendation.
Our calculators run on published federal rules and rates — never on what an advertiser would prefer.
We steer clear of predatory categories (VA claim "sharks," payday/credit-repair, VA-refi churners). VA-claims help is routed only to accredited attorneys or VSOs.

Military Transition Toolkit is an independent educational resource. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, or any government agency. Always confirm benefit figures and eligibility with the VA or a free accredited VSO before making a decision.
