VR&E Track · Chapter 31
Get your old civilian job back.
Veterans who want to return to their former civilian employer.
The VA helps you get your old job back and works with your employer to accommodate your service-connected disability, so you can step back into a role you already know.
Reemployment is the track VR&E looks at first when you left a civilian job to serve, or you have a former employer willing to bring you back. Because you already know the role and the employer, it is usually the fastest path to work. The VA focuses on coordinating any reasonable accommodation your service-connected disability requires so the job stays a good fit.
Getting on it: Your Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) confirms the employment goal is feasible, then works with you and the employer on accommodations and the return. It is written into your rehabilitation plan like any other track.
