A secondary condition is a new condition caused or aggravated by a condition VA already service-connected. It gets its own rating, which combines with your existing rating (VA math, not addition) — often the fastest way to raise your overall percentage. You still need a nexus. These are commonly-granted relationships, not automatic. Winning a secondary claim takes a medical opinion linking the secondary to your service-connected primary (“at least as likely as not caused by…”).
