Rating Criteria for Multiple Myeloma
Rating schedule under 38 CFR 4.117, DC 7712 (multiple myeloma). Criteria are simplified summaries; your specific rating depends on severity documented in your C&P exam.
Assigned for symptomatic multiple myeloma. The 100% evaluation continues for five years after the diagnosis, after which a mandatory VA examination is required; any reduction is subject to the applicable appeal and reduction provisions.
Assigned when the disease is asymptomatic, smoldering, or when the finding is monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). If the disease later becomes symptomatic or leaves residuals, it is rated accordingly.
Verified against 38 CFR Part 4, the official VA rating schedule. Reviewed July 2026.
