How to evaluate any SkillBridge program
Ask the program coordinator one question: "What percentage of fellows received a full-time offer in the last 12 months?"
- 70%+ is a strong bet
- 40-70% is reasonable but riskier
- Won't disclose / "we don't track that" is itself a signal — walk
- Below 40% means the company is using SkillBridge fellows as free labor

Programs to Verify Carefully
Without naming specific bad actors (public accusations require receipts), the patterns veterans flag on r/skillbridge and Hiring Our Heroes forums:

Programs that won't disclose conversion rate. As DoD's 2026 oversight changes target providers using fellows as free labor, dodging the offer-rate question is a stronger negative signal than ever.

"Generalist" placements with no role match. A real program assigns you to a hiring manager from day one. "We'll find something for you" = red flag.

What to remember
The headline numbers most veterans should remember: Microsoft MSSA reports 96% employment, Northrop Grumman reports ~95% offer rate, AWS reports 90% completion. These are the published benchmarks. If a smaller program won't tell you their numbers, that's a signal in itself.
