SkillBridge Companies Hiring 2026: Top Programs by Industry

DoD SkillBridge lets active-duty service members do civilian internships during their final 180 days while keeping full military pay and benefits. The official partner directory at skillbridge.mil/locations.htm lists 3,000+ approved providers. Most are noise.

How to evaluate any SkillBridge program

Ask the program coordinator one question: "What percentage of fellows received a full-time offer in the last 12 months?"

• 70%+ is a strong bet
• 40-70% is reasonable but riskier
• Won't disclose / "we don't track that" is itself a signal — walk
• Below 40% means the company is using SkillBridge fellows as free labor

Programs to Verify Carefully

Without naming specific bad actors (public accusations require receipts), the patterns veterans flag on r/skillbridge and Hiring Our Heroes forums:

1. Programs that won't disclose conversion rate. As DoD's 2026 oversight changes target providers using fellows as free labor, dodging the offer-rate question is a stronger negative signal than ever.

2. "Generalist" placements with no role match. A real program assigns you to a hiring manager from day one. "We'll find something for you" = red flag.

3. Providers not on the official list. Cross-check every claim against skillbridge.mil/locations.htm. If they're not there, they're not approved — period.

How to apply (general framework)

1. Identify 3-5 target companies from the categories above based on your specialty
2. Check skillbridge.mil/locations.htm for the active provider profile and exact eligibility (some programs require specific MOSs, ranks, or clearance levels)
3. Apply directly to each company's SkillBridge portal (links above) 4-6 months before your final 180 days begin

5. Coordinate the start date with your command and the program coordinator

What to remember

The headline numbers most veterans should remember: Microsoft MSSA reports 96% employment, Northrop Grumman reports ~95% offer rate, AWS reports 90% completion. These are the published benchmarks. If a smaller program won't tell you their numbers, that's a signal in itself.

The official directory is the only source of truth for which companies are approved. Aggregator sites and "top 100" lists go stale fast as programs add and remove themselves from the directory.
