Pick your state to see the 2026 VA loan limit. The important thing first: with full entitlement there is no limit at all. These figures only matter for a second VA loan on reduced entitlement.

2026 VA / conforming loan limit in most of California
$832,750
the national baseline (one-unit) — 17 high-cost counties are higher (below)
This limit only matters if you have REDUCED entitlement. With full VA entitlement (you've never used your VA loan, or it's been fully restored), there is no loan limit — you can borrow as much as a lender approves with $0 down. The county limit only caps the loan when you have a prior VA loan still open.
2026 figures from FHFA (VA uses the same conforming loan limits): $832,750 baseline, up to $1,249,125 in the highest-cost counties (and $1,873,675 in AK, HI, Guam, and the USVI). If you have a prior VA loan open, work out your remaining entitlement with the entitlement calculator. Informational, not lending advice.
Next: work out a second-loan scenario with the entitlement calculator, estimate a monthly payment, or read the VA home loan guide.
