In 2019 the DoD detected 1.1 million ppt of PFOA in Barksdale groundwater, plus at least 2,000 ppt of eight other PFAS compounds. Both groundwater and surface water around the base are affected; more than 14,500 people live on base.

Barksdale AFB is NOT currently a VA presumptive location for PFAS. That does not mean claims fail, it means you have to establish the exposure and a medical nexus between PFAS and your condition. A free VSO can help build that connection.
