Dual military: who gets paid what BAH

Each member draws their own rate. Dependency status is the only variable that changes the answer, and living together changes nothing.

Who gets paid what BAH in a dual-military couple. The core rule is that each member draws their own BAH at their own pay grade and duty location. There is no combined rate and no split rate, and neither member can claim the other as a dependent for BAH purposes. If the couple has no children or other qualifying dependents, both members receive BAH without dependents, regardless of which one earns more and even if they live together. If the couple has children or other qualifying dependents, one member receives BAH with dependents and the other receives BAH without dependents; both cannot claim the same children. At the same duty station, living together does not reduce anything and the household receives two full payments. At different duty stations, each member is paid for their own location. If one member lives in government quarters, that member's BAH goes to the housing office and the other member still draws full BAH for their assignment.
