Read the Find a VSO review date from the directory data instead of typing it in
The Find a VSO landing page showed "July 2026" as its review date while the directory it introduces had just been refreshed to October 2026, and while its own 57 state pages and the directory page all showed October. The landing page was the only ...

Refresh the VA accredited representative directory, and repair the job meant to do it monthly
Updates the VA accredited representative directory behind the Find a VSO pages to VA's October 2026 lists, and fixes the monthly job that was supposed to keep it current.

Log the member count from the public endpoint, and count the same people the site does
Corrects the member-count log to report the same number the site reports, and removes its need for any database credential.
- October 14, 2026 · 2c5271d
Record the member total every day so growth can be measured net, not gross
Adds a daily job that writes the live member total to a log, so growth can be reported as the number that actually matters rather than as a count of signups.

Put ad slots where readers actually are on three more page groups
/calculator/terminal-leave earned $1.56 per thousand pageviews against a site average of $8.34, and the cause was placement rather than absence. Despite the name it is a prose page, not a calculator: the calculator lives at /calculator/terminal-le...

Add in-content ad slots to nine hub pages that had none
Nine pages carried only the Adhesion unit, because Mediavine's Content and Sidebar units need a content container to attach to and these pages had no `mv-content` anywhere: /tools, /va-disability, /mos, /federal-jobs, /vre, /state-benefits, /start...

Stop one phone's animation loop from drowning the error dashboard
Filters a class of error thrown by an animation library the site does not ship.

Fix password reset and delete-account confirmation landing on the homepage
Requesting a password reset sent people to the homepage instead of the form that sets a new password. Same for the delete-account confirmation step. Neither showed an error, so it looked like the email link simply did nothing.

Add a federal surplus property guide, and a gate on veteran contracting claims
Two things. A new page at /entrepreneurship/surplus-property explaining how veteran-owned small businesses can get federal surplus equipment, from office furniture to vehicles, through their state surplus agency for a handling fee rather than reta...

Correct the veteran contracting figures, and remove a benefit that does not exist
Ten corrections to what the site says about SDVOSB and VOSB federal contracting. The headline one: a page claimed service-disabled veteran-owned firms get a 3% price evaluation preference in open competition. No such preference exists. The 10% pri...

Fix the account confirmation link, which sent people to the homepage
Confirming an account from one of our reminder emails did not work. The link dropped people on the homepage with no message, their account stayed unconfirmed, and the site then asked them to log in again. A subscriber wrote in after trying three t...

Add a career help page where every link carries the date it was checked
A public list of the organizations that help veterans find work for free: mentorship, corporate fellowships, resume rewrites, skilled-trade training. Sixteen of them, with the date every link was last confirmed working shown at the top.

Repair the member resource list and add five career nonprofits
The resource list inside the member area had rotted. Of 67 links, 20 were broken, redirected somewhere else, or pointing at something other than what the title said. Fixed, and five well-known career nonprofits added.

Add a newsletter archive page so past issues can be found
Every issue of The Transition Wire has been readable at its own URL for months, but /newsletters itself returned 404 and nothing on the site linked to any of them. You could only reach an issue if you already had the link. There is now an archive ...

Check orphan pages against the live site, not just the build
The orphan check read build output alone, so a page that still builds but is redirected away showed up as unreachable. It now asks the live site, without following redirects, and sorts each candidate into one of three outcomes:

Add a sweep for pages that lead nowhere
The two existing link checkers cover hrefs in the built pages and outbound URLs. Neither can see a path that nothing links to, which is exactly where dead ends hide. This adds a sweep for four of those classes, run against the live site:

Add a tool that checks the error filter against real traffic
The Sentry noise filter was only ever tested against fixtures written by hand, which proves it does what its author expected and nothing about what is actually getting through. This pulls the latest event for every unresolved issue and runs it thr...

Stop reporting other people's failed network requests as site errors
Ad and analytics scripts fetch from their own servers, and when an ad blocker or a flaky connection kills one of those requests it was arriving as a new site error. Those are filtered now, with one exception that matters: a failed request to our o...

Turn off ads on the guided VA claim wizard
Someone part-way through filing a disability claim should not be looking at an advert. The guided wizard is now ad-free. The two claims hub pages keep theirs, since those are browsing pages rather than the filing flow.

Keep the bot trap looking identical to a real signup
Follow-up to the signup confirmation screen. The hidden-field trap that catches spam bots shows a fake success so the bot cannot tell it was caught, and that only works while the fake is indistinguishable from the real thing.
- October 8, 2026 · 381b329
Stop the signup page asking people to sign up again after they just did
After creating an account you now get a single clear screen: your account is made, we sent a link to the address you used, click it and you land where you were headed. Nothing else on the page.

Stop reporting the ad stack's newest script path as a site error
Two alerts this week ("Load failed" and a network error from api.btloader.com) came from an ad-block recovery script the ad stack loads, not from anything on MTT. They are filtered now, so they stop arriving as new issues.

Follow the DoD comptroller move and repair the last resolvable links
The Financial Management Regulation citations now point at comptroller.war.gov, which is where that site went. 32 more files, mostly the MEB/PEB and BAH guides that cite FMR Volume 7A.
- October 8, 2026 · 9acfd4c
Repair the rest of the dead outbound links
Second pass over the links the first sweep could not resolve automatically, because the fix was a judgement call rather than a moved path. 15 more files.

Repair the outbound links that had stopped working
Fixes the dead external links the new weekly sweep found: 128 files updated across blog posts, state benefit data and tool pages. Where the page had simply moved, the link now points at its current home. Where the site is gone entirely, the link i...

Stop calling a page dead when the whole host is refusing us
The link check now confirms a host is answering before it reports any page on it as gone. If a 404 comes back from a host whose own homepage also fails, that is a host refusing this environment, not a removed page.

Re-check unresolved links automatically instead of asking someone to
The link check marks timeouts, 5xx responses and rate limits as unresolved rather than broken, and its advice for those was "worth a second run before believing". It now does that second run itself.

Run both accuracy checks every Monday
The outbound-link check and the source-watch check now run on a schedule and on demand, with their reports kept as a downloadable artifact for 90 days. A failure means something is newly gone or an official page has changed what it says.

Watch the official pages our facts come from, and report when one changes
MTT quotes dates, form numbers and deadlines from VA and Navy pages. When one of those pages changes, nothing here knew. A new check reads the specific facts we depend on, straight from the source, and reports the ones that no longer match along w...

Add a weekly check for outbound links that have stopped working
MTT links out to a few thousand pages on other people's sites, and nothing noticed when one of them went away. A new check fetches every outbound link in the built site once a week and reports the ones that are genuinely gone, along with the pages...

Say plainly on every claims tool that it does not file for you
The claim tracker, the guided wizard, Chart Your Claim and the claims builder now each carry a short notice above the tool: this does not file anything with the VA, it helps you organize what you need so that you or a VA-accredited representative ...

Restore the full changelog page
The changelog page has been showing only a single entry instead of the last 40. Every deploy republished it with one line, so the history of what shipped was not visible to anyone. The page is back to the full list.

Point four lookup pages at the next step instead of a dead end
The toxic exposure checker, the caregiver stipend calculator, the WG pay calculator and the VR&E pay calculator each answered their question and then offered only more calculators. Each now names the thing that usually comes next: the guided claim...

Count sign-ups made with Google
Creating an account with Google was not being counted anywhere, so the record of how many people signed up was short by about a quarter. Nothing changes for anyone using the site; the number is just right now.

Offer deadline reminders on the tools that already know your separation date
The terminal leave calculator, the separation pay timeline and the transition planner all ask for your separation date to work out their answer, then forget it. Each now offers the five deadline reminder emails keyed off that date: the BDD claim w...

Fix the setup questions that never appeared after signing up
The short welcome questions (who you are, when you separate, what you are working toward) were supposed to appear once on your dashboard after you create an account. They never did. They do now, and anyone who signed up earlier will see them on th...
